Worthing Is Open for Business This Summer

After months of roadworks, diversions and disruption around Worthing town centre, there is finally some good news for local shops, cafés, restaurants and visitors.

The major gas works around Teville Road are now over for the time being, with SGN confirming completion by 15 May 2026, allowing bus services around Worthing station to return to normal from Saturday 16 May.

Hemiko’s Worthing Heat Network works are also over for now, with the latest phase planned to avoid disruption during the town’s busiest summer period. Adur & Worthing Council previously confirmed that Hemiko was aiming to complete its work schedule before the school summer holidays to minimise the impact on the town.

That means one thing:

Worthing is open for business this summer.

For local businesses, the past months have not been easy. Road closures, temporary traffic lights, changing access routes and reduced footfall have all had an impact. Many independent shops rely on people being able to get into town easily, park nearby, browse comfortably and make spontaneous visits.

Now, with the worst of the disruption behind us, it is the ideal time to support Worthing’s local businesses again.

Whether you are visiting the town centre, heading to the seafront, meeting friends for coffee, booking a meal, shopping locally or popping into a specialist showroom like ours, your support really does make a difference.

Worthing has so much to offer during the summer months. We have the seafront, independent shops, cafés, restaurants, theatres, salons, service businesses and family-run retailers who all help make the town what it is.

At YouFirst Chairs, we are pleased to see access improving again. Our showroom remains open Monday to Saturday, 10am–5pm, with free off-street parking and a large range of riser recliner chairs and adjustable beds to try.

If you have been putting off a visit because of the roadworks, this summer is a great time to come in.

There is no pressure, no appointment needed, and plenty of time to try different chairs properly. Our team are here to help you find something comfortable, supportive and right for your needs.

So whether you are coming into Worthing for shopping, lunch, the beach, a theatre visit or to browse local businesses, now is the time to come back into town.

Worthing is open, local businesses are ready, and summer is just getting started.
