You First Chairs
Arms or Knuckles?
When choosing a Rise & Recliner chair there are two main types of arm design you may have noticed. One is all fabric from back to front and the other has wooden knuckles on the end. What are these knuckles for?
Knuckles are put on chairs for a couple of reasons. Many people who use these chairs may have trouble with walking. This can make manoeuvring into a seat quite difficult. With a knuckled chair however the user can can feel behind them for the knuckle and know exactly where the arms are in relation to their body and make the process of sitting down much easier.
Another reason is having something solid to grip when you need to get out of the chair. The knuckle is sturdy and attached to the frame which gives support when getting up.
Mainly though it all comes down to preference. Some people like Knuckles and some people don't. This is why we stock a varied selection in our shop so you can try many different types, styles & sizes and see which one is best for you.
